Dior
finds its Head Couturier
After
more than a year of searching for the Creative Director, Dior & LVMH’s head
honcho, Bernard Arnault, finally put the hunt, speculation & rumors to rest
on 9th April when the label’s spokesperson named Raf Simon, a
Belgian designer, as their next couturier. So what does the job description of
the Head Couturier of Dior look like? Well he is only the Artistic Director of
Haute Couture, Women’s Ready-to-wear & Accessories collections, as well as
responsible for the Advertising.
After
having headed the designer label Jil Sander as the Creative Director, Raf is Dior’s
sixth couturier (seventh if you count Bill Gaytten, who was heading the label as
a make-shift arrangement). Nonetheless, Raf Simons has quite a few eyes
watching him & waiting to critique his first collection for the label at
the Paris Couture Week in July.
But
before we think about the future of the label under the leadership of the new
Creative Director, let’s look at the glorious & at times tumultuous history
of the Creative Directors that preceded him in this Fashion power house - Dior.

So while we await the spectacular merger between Raf’s minimalistic yet romantic style & Dior’s feminine history, let another round of speculations begin of what awaits us this July!
